Happy Easter!

A very big Happy Easter to one and all and especially the very kind folk who follow and comment on my very simples blog. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday and eating lovely Easter eggs and hot cross buns! Here is a photo of my egg tree and a card I made Hubby from Tim's Easter Blue Print Stamps that I treated myself to... I would like to say that I brought them instead of a chocolate egg but I can't lie to you.. I had one of those too!

Sunday Stamper: Shiny Happy People.

Hi to all of you out there. To those who are blanketed in the old white stuff a very warm welcome and I hope you are! (Warm that is) I'm cold and we haven't even got any snow here!

This week Hels has challenged us with the song title Shiny Happy People to make something Shiny and so I thought I would go all pretty for a change - a bit different for me!



So here is a very girly tag. I used some 7 Dots Studio paper as the base which has some scrummy lace in the background. Then I used some Tilda papers to make a blousy rose with my tattered floral die and then I dipped it in my melt pot to make it shiny. The powder bowl and perfume stamp come from a set by Crafty individuals and the postmark is from Tim's French set. I used Spun Sugar distress around the edge of the paper and the bowl and letter mark. Then I die cut a strip of Vintage lace and coated it in Spun Sugar distress paint for down the side. I found an old  battered shiny diamonte earring to dangle, dyed some ribbon to tone for the top and added a shiny silver bow.

Tattered Floral Brooch Card.

I have left it very close to the end to enter Tim Holtz's Tattered floral Challenge but here in the nick of time is my offering. It is a small gift card for a dear friend who is a paper artist, with a detachable brooch to use on her denim jacket.

 I used the circle stamp from his Bitty Grunge set with Shaded Lilac distress ink around the background of the card. Then I swiped a piece of card across an assortment of blue and lilac distress inks and added interest with some more Bitty Grunge stamps. The denim pocket is from a car boot (Yard Sale) bargain from a little pair of jeans that yielded two pockets for 20p! Tne brush and pencils and sentiment are from my Studio 490 art stamps and the tattered floral was die cut from an assorment of jean and ticking material with a hessian and gauze flower thrown in for good measure. Then a button and a brooch back and there you go! What I am most pleased with is that the card still looks balanced when she removes the brooch. Off now to post it asap on Tim's challenge. Sunday Stampers: Brown Eyed Girl.

Couldn't wait to make something for Hels challenge this week as I love my browns and I have just brought the brown and oranges set in Tim's  distress paints. This sort of  evolved as I made it, no set plan in mind. (Can you tell?)

 

I used a mixture of distress paints on my craft mat, added water and swooshed the tag through. I love the way the paints drip and mottle, very different from the stains and inks and yet the properties are the same. I frayed and inked the edge of the tag with Walnut Stain ink.

Then I painted Walnut Stain paint over some punched edged card, using my Martha Stewart punch. I added some lacy jute, (at least that's what I think it is!) a piece of frayed hessian and then a stamped tweezle image that I chopped up and stained with Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge ink. The little note tag is mounted onto a sticky fixer and I used Tims chit chat stickers to make up the sentiment. The butterflies were stamped in brown archival ink and then stamped again onto card, coloured and 3D mounted so that their wings fluttered. I added string to the top of the card and then took a pressed Viola that was in my garden last year and carefully adhered it to the tweezle image.

Brown enough I hope! Sshhh, the sun is out,  yahoo, Spring is coming! Have a good week. x

Sundays Stampers: You Make Me Feel Brand New.

Here's a great challenge from Hels on her weekly Sunday Stampers spot. She is asking us to use something we have not used before, be it hidden in our stash or brand new. I have  just brought some  Distress Paints, and Tim's Picture Wheel Die, as well as having the Artistic Outpost 'You're A Star' set that I haven't used, so here is what I came up with.



Firstly I embossed a tag with Tims cog wheel embossing folder and mixed up Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey and  Rusty Hinge Distressed paints and sloshed them on. Lush indeedily as Hels would say! Then I used Walnut Stain ink on the edges. The die cut was inked with Vintage Photo and edged with Walnut stain again. I stuck little photographs of some of my favourite movie stars round the wheel and stamped the clapper board from the Artistic Outpost set in Archival Black. I attached it to the tag with a long brad so that it moves and then added another clapper board on top with sticky fixers. 'Baby you're A Star' from the same set was embossed with a bright orange embossing powder onto black card. I then covered a die cut cog with vintage photo paint and added the stamped film wheels on top. The star is grungeboard, painted gold and buffed with viva gold. The old-fashioned movie camera comes from a set of stamps I've had a while but have lost the manufacturer, sorry! I stained the ribbon with Rusty Hinge Stain and stamped 'Lights, Camera, Action' on it from the same set. Great fun, and I think I've managed to use quite a few 'new' things, thanks Hels! Tim's Tag for March.

Here is my take on Tim's March tag. I didn't have quite a bit of his kit this month but wanted to keep it as near his creation as I could as it is such a lovely Spring tag and as the UK temperature has plummeted again I wanted to look at pretty colours!

 



I do not have his seasonal papers but found a pretty paper in my stash that was pale blue, pink and yellow. I used my spellbinders frame to cut out the pink frame and used the small tinsel background as instructed by Tim and dabbed blue alcohol ink on it. I used a little green felt bunny as I do not own his movers and shakers die (yet) and then died the ribbon with Picked Raspberry stain. Once again no tapered fringe die so I hand cut some card I stained with Mowed Lawn, (how I love that colour!) and then bent some of the strips forward. I have run out of metal foliage so used some wooden flower shapes I have had for ages and as my Distress Paint has not arrived yet used acrylic pink and yellow on the flowers. I do own the Tattered Banners die (phew) but not his 'just right for the job' sentiments but found a small stamp that sounded just right. Distress stained ribbon at the top and a touch of Spring sits on my mantlepiece for a while! Thanks Tim, great inspiration and techniques as always.

Sunday Stampers: Something Pretty.

Morning peeps, and my lovely followers to whom I am so grateful that you stop by! Hels has challenged us this week to make Something Pretty. Oh what a lovely challenge, I only had a smidgen of time and so went for something very simples and used a stamp that has been in my collection for quite a few years.



I stamped and embossed it twice onto white card and used a sparkly embossing powder. I stamped it again on spare card and cut two of the flowers out again. Then I coloured it with Picked Raspberry distress ink using my water colour brush. The sentiment is by CRESCENDOh stamps and the butterfly is on perspex with pink embossing powder and some sequins. It is just layered against some matching plain card.Very simples, I wish I had more time but relaxing to do!
